Farm Hand – Land and Livestock
Join Lower Murray Water's Water Quality and Environment team and play an important role in operating and maintaining our Land and Livestock farming enterprise located at the Mildura Wastewater Treatment Plant. This hands-on position supports sustainable farming practices through sheep husbandry, pasture management, irrigation operations and farm asset maintenance. You'll be part of a safety-focused team delivering environmental and agricultural outcomes while helping make beneficial use of recycled water. About the role
Working within Lower Murray Water’s 189-hectare farming enterprise, you’ll assist with the sustainable application of recycled water while supporting livestock, cropping and pasture activities. This role contributes to achieving environmental compliance requirements and maintaining productive farming operations across the site.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assist with sheep husbandry activities, including animal welfare and biosecurity practices.
- Support pasture and crop management activities including planting, maintenance and harvesting.
- Operate and maintain irrigation infrastructure.
- Assist with maintenance of fencing, machinery, equipment and farm assets.
- Complete operational and administrative records accurately.
- Support environmental and farm management plans.
- Participate in seasonal farming activities including irrigation, lambing and harvesting.
- Assist at other Lower Murray Water operational sites when required.
About you
You enjoy practical outdoor work; are safety focused and take pride in contributing to productive farming operations. You work well within a team and are committed to maintaining high standards of environmental stewardship and animal welfare.
You’ll bring:
- Experience working in agriculture, farming or a similar operational environment.
- Knowledge of livestock management, irrigation systems or general farm operations.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively within a team.
- Certificate in Agriculture and/or Chemical Accreditation AQF-3 will be highly regarded.
