Winter maintenance pumping schedule 2024

We conduct scheduled maintenance to our infrastructure while demand is low so our services are available when customers need it most. The 2024 winter maintenance period will run from April to September. Maintenance works range from channel lining and patching to electrical works and irrigation mains replacement.

During these works, interruptions to rural water supply in irrigation districts are sometimes necessary.

Water trading deadline

Irrigation season ends on 30 June at midday (12pm AEST) and begins on 1 July annually.

We recommend that you trade water allocation that is at risk of being written off. You can also carry over unused water allocation from one season to the next to use or trade.

You must apply to trade water before the cut off date to have it counted for this irrigation season. Dates change each year and are set in late May.

Interstate applications require the approval of both states and must be submitted by 4.30pm Friday 16 2023. Applications received after this date and time are not guaranteed to be processed in the 2022/23 year.

Victorian applications:

• made through My Water, including the Broker Portal, are processed instantly until 12pm Friday 30 June 2023
• applications emailed to Lower Murray Water will need to be submitted by 4.30pm Friday 23 June 2023. Applications received after this date and time are not guaranteed to be processed in the 2022/2023 year.

Please ensure all information within your application is correct at the time of submission.

The Victorian Water Register will close at midday (12.00 pm AEST) on 30 June 2023 and reopen at midnight (12.00 am AEST) on 1 July 2023 for the end of year accounting that enables the roll over from the 2022-23 to the 2023-24 water year.

Final meter readings

We collect final meter readings via automatic and manual methods throughout June. Any water used after your final meter reading is recorded as usage in your next irrigation season allocation – unless you contact us to update your reading.

We encourage you to monitor your June readings and ensure they are consistent with the data recorded on our water order portal.

Where possible, finalise water use and irrigation before 4pm Wednesday 28 June 2023 so telemetry transmissions and last-minute readings can be recorded.

Winter maintenance schedules are subject to change.

Affected rural customers will be notified via SMS with up-to-date information when works are due to start. You can register for SMS updates by updating your contact details in our water order portal.

Seasonal determinations

The Northern Victoria Resource Manager announces the seasonal determination – the percentage of water allocated to a water share – on the first and 15th of each month.
