Swimming pool backwash

Swimming pool water contains a range of treatment products and chemicals. These materials are collected by the pool’s filtration system and captured or contained in the filter. To work efficiently, swimming pool filters need to be cleaned by backwashing the captured materials out of the filter.

Backwash water from swimming pools cannot be disposed of into the stormwater system as it can harm our environment.

For certain applications, Lower Murray Water will allow pool backwash to be connected to its sewerage system.

How to apply

To apply, complete the application form.

The application fee for the 2023–24 financial year is $151.90 (water services are GST exempt).

Submit your application:

• by email – scan the completed application form and email to property.services@lmw.vic.gov.au
• by mail – to our Mildura postal address
• in person – at our Mildura office during opening hours.

To pay the fee by credit card, contact us. We can’t process your application until the fee has been paid.
