About the role:

We are seeking a qualified Electrician to perform programmed and breakdown electrical maintenance and repairs across LMW’s potable water, wastewater, irrigation, and drainage services. This role provides technical expertise, supports compliance, and contributes to the safe and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure, including high-voltage assets.

The remuneration range for this role is Band 2 to Band 3, with the final banding determined based on the successful applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide high‑level guidance on electrical standards, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance to support LMW’s safe and reliable operations.
  • Ensure all electrical maintenance works are performed safely and in accordance with legislation, codes, and internal procedures, including correct isolation and testing.
  • Respond to breakdowns, alarms, and emergency repairs, restoring service efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, maintenance, fault‑finding, and upgrades of electrical and control systems across treatment plants, pump stations, and network assets.
  • Role‑model and support culture‑change initiatives that promote teamwork, safety leadership, continuous improvement, and strong communication.
  • Perform rostered standby and on‑call duties, including responding to after‑hours faults and participating in overtime as required.

About you:

We’re looking for technical people who have the following or the enthusiasm to learn and grow a career in the rural water industry:

  • Unrestricted Electrician’s ‘A’ Class Licence (Victoria).
  • Construction Induction Card.
  • Ability to work independently across the LMW service area.
  • Experience mentoring apprentice electricians.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Leadership in safety systems and continuous improvement.
  • Desirable: High Voltage Operator qualification and willingness to achieve Instrumentation & Control qualifications.
