Lower Murray Water (LMW) Managing Director, Paul Northey, has announced new urban and rural water pricing for the coming 2024/25 financial year.

“For our urban owner/occupier customers there will be an increase, with tariffs rising slightly above inflation by 4.1% on average in the coming year. This equates to a change of about 88 cents a week more than 23/24 year and for those customers who are tenants the average increase will be around 25 cents per week.”

“We have a forecast $94.8M of capital expenditure for our urban business over our five-year pricing plan which will further enhance the water and sewer services that we provide in the Kerang through to Merbein areas of our supply district.”

“For our rural irrigation customers, our prices generally decrease in the coming year before inflation is added. With the addition of inflation, we will still see a decrease in the Robinvale and Mildura high pressure districts of 1% and in the other areas increases of between 3.1% to 5.8% on average.”

“For our private diversion and Millewa waterworks customers there will be a below inflation, increase of only 1% on average.”

“Each rural customer will receive a letter and tariff explanation sheet from LMW shortly which sets out the tariff pricing.”

“The Board of LMW understand the stresses faced by our irrigation communities at the moment and looked to keep tariffs as low as possible in these uncertain times.”

“We invite customers experiencing hardship or any financial difficulties to contact our office. We can often assist if we know about your difficulties. Some customers could be eligible for utility relief grants or may benefit from a payment plan.”

“In addition, if you need further explanation or assistance to understand our tariffs and charges you can speak directly with our staff by calling 1800 808 830.”
