In September 2026, more than 50 rural irrigators and stock and domestic customers joined LMW at four BBQ and discussion events across Red Cliffs, Mildura, Merbein and Millewa.

The sessions were part of LMW’s engagement for the Price Submission 2028-2033 (or five-year plan), giving customers an opportunity to speak directly with LMW staff about the services they rely on and what should be considered as we plan future investment.

What did we hear?

Customers consistently prioritised reliable water delivery and improved water quality, alongside continued investment in infrastructure renewal and modernisation. They also want greater transparency around pricing and energy costs, better digital services and strong compliance to ensure fairness. Looking ahead, customers raised concerns about the long-term viability of irrigation districts, changing land use and water availability, while Millewa customers identified specific issues around water entitlements, meter access and stock and domestic supply.

Our customers’ insights will help inform the choices and priorities considered as LMW develops PS28.

What’s next?

We are preparing for the Rural Negotiation Meetings in October and November to discuss the choices and trade-offs facing rural customers and work towards clear recommendations that LMW can consider in developing PS28.
