About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Operator, Limited Tenure – 12 months, to perform programmed and breakdown mechanical maintenance and repairs across LMW’s potable water, wastewater, irrigation, and drainage services. This role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mechanical infrastructure and contributes to ongoing improvements and asset performance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure all mechanical maintenance works are carried out safely and in compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures, including SWMS and risk assessments.
  • Perform planned and unplanned maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to LMW assets.
  • Respond to breakdowns, alarms, and emergencies, restoring service efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, modification, and improvement of mechanical infrastructure.
  • Accurately fit parts and work from drawings where required.
  • Monitor and maintain water, irrigation, drainage, and sewer assets, including pumps and associated equipment.
  • Maintain tools, plant, and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition
  • Complete documentation, maintenance records, and reports as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and team-based outcomes within the Mechanical Maintenance function.
  • Participate in standby/on-call roster arrangements, including reasonable overtime as required.

About you

  • Engineering Trade Certificate (Cert III) or equivalent or demonstrated transferable experience in mechanical maintenance or a related field.
  • Construction Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, fault-finding and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across a diverse operational environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Commitment to safety, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in water or wastewater operations.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • High Risk Work Licence and/or Heavy Rigid Licence (or willingness to obtain).
