About the Role:
This is a highly collaborative, field-based role where you’ll play a key part in driving injury prevention across our operational environments. As an Injury Prevention Specialist, you’ll work closely with frontline teams and leaders, gaining real insight into how work gets done and identifying practical, effective ways to reduce risk and improve safety outcomes.
This role is central to LMW’s commitment to shifting from reactive injury management to proactive prevention and early intervention. You’ll be regularly present in the field, building strong relationships and using data-driven insights from systems like GPNet to uncover what’s really driving injuries.
You’ll translate these insights into meaningful, practical actions—helping shape safer work practices, strengthen wellbeing outcomes, and support a culture where safety is embedded in everyday operations. Working closely with leaders, employees, and the People, Safety and Wellbeing team, you’ll make a lasting impact on how we prevent injuries and support recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with frontline teams, supervisors, and operational leaders to observe work practices, identify risks, and implement practical safety improvements.
- Analyse GPNet and other data sources to identify injury trends, emerging risks, and targeted opportunities for prevention.
- Design and deliver impactful injury prevention, health, safety, and wellbeing programs tailored to operational environments.
- Translate insights into practical, task-based solutions, including ergonomic, manual handling, and fit-for-work assessments.
- Lead early intervention and return-to-work strategies that enable safe, sustainable recovery and meet legislative requirements.
- Support both physical and psychosocial wellbeing initiatives to address the full range of workplace risk factors.
- Coach, influence and inspire leaders to embed a proactive safety and wellbeing culture into day-to-day operations.
- Deliver targeted training, education and engagement activities to build injury prevention capability across the workforce.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, insurers and regulators, to support positive outcomes.
- Challenge unsafe or inefficient practices constructively and contribute expert support during incidents or emergency responses.
- Identify and trial innovative approaches, tools or technologies to continuously improve injury prevention outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S, environmental and legislative standards while actively enhancing prevention frameworks.
About You:
We’re looking for an experienced and practical injury prevention professional who thrives in operational environments and can influence across all levels of an organisation.
- Tertiary qualification in Allied Health or a related field, or equivalent experience in injury prevention and recovery.
- Experience in injury prevention, occupational health, or OHS—ideally within utilities, construction, maintenance, or similar sectors.
- Strong understanding of musculoskeletal risk, manual handling, fatigue, and early intervention approaches.
- Knowledge of both physical and psychosocial risk factors in the workplace.
- Experience managing workers compensation claims and delivering effective, sustainable return-to-work programs.
- Ability to interpret data and translate insights into practical, operational solutions.
- Strong business partnering and stakeholder engagement skills across all organisational levels.
- Return-to-Work Coordinator training (or willingness to obtain), with sound administration and record management capability.
- Confidence engaging frontline teams, influencing leaders, and having constructive, outcome-focused conversations.
