Supporting our community
We’re proud to support the communities we serve - not just through providing water and wastewater services but by helping our towns thrive, connect and stay hydrated.
The power of storytelling and history
Maintaining the history of our region is an important part of a thriving community. Bob Walton and his wife Helen (nee Petschel) continue to share the rich history of the Sunraysia region and contribute their time to the Red Cliffs Historical Society.
Bob, an ex-school teacher and keen poet, filmed and recorded his poem titled “The red cliffs of Red Cliffs”, a moving narration about the riverine landscape and growing irrigation and farming district of Red Cliffs. Bob’s poetic art is now captured for future generations to learn about the settlement of Red Cliffs.
To continue capturing Bob’s poetic genius, he was tasked with honouring the Merbein area of Sunraysia in a similar way for historical purposes. Writing the poem, “In the steps of Blandowski – From Mondellimin to Merbein”. This poem shares the significance that the Aboriginal community, soldier settlers and current irrigators hold in the district.
Keeping our towns hydrated through permanent water refill stations
Having access to refill your water bottle or sip from a bubbler in local hotspots and sporting grounds is another way we support our community. Over the years, we have continued to add to our network of permanent drinking stations. To find a drinking station near you, navigate to our ‘around our region’ page.

Supporting our senior citizens
Each October during Seniors’ Week, we host a Seniors’ Week morning tea for residents over 60 years of age. As part of the event, we arrange guest speakers to present on topics including gardening and local history. Keep an eye out for the Seniors Week schedule (presented by Mildura Rural City Council) and notification of the event on our website and social media pages.
