Lower Murray Water (LMW) is a water corporation providing services to around 80,000 urban and rural customers along the Murray River. Our service region lies within the traditional lands of First Nations Peoples, starting from Barapa Barapa (Koondrook), travelling downstream along the Murray River through Latji Latji (Mildura) and flowing to Ngintait at the South Australian border. Lower Murray Water (LMW) currently have an opportunity for a Project Engineer or a Project Officer (Electrical) with experience in Project Delivery to work within a highly supportive team to play a valuable contribution to Lower Murray Water’s $30M annual capital works program.
We are looking for applicants with more than just formal qualifications; we are seeking those who have solution focused practical experience with either a formal Electrical Engineering degree (Project Engineer) or an electrical trade certificate (Project Officer). As part of the LMW Infrastructure Projects team you will be supported by our diverse, highly skilled team of Civil Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and Project Managers to contribute to the delivery of LMW’s capital works program.
About the role:
Located in either the Swan Hill or Mildura office and reporting directly to the Program Manager, you will be instrumental in leading the delivery of your own suite of projects, as well as supporting others in the delivery of their Projects, leveraging strengths across a multi-disciplined team. From scoping and stakeholder engagement to design and delivery, you will see projects through from concept through to construction and commissioning. You will be supported by your numerous teammates, consultants and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget to the benefit of our customers and wider community.
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Management of capital works projects in accordance with the LMW Project Management Framework from project initiation through to completion.
- Undertake project scoping activities, including helping define objectives, deliverables, risks, and constraints in consultation with stakeholders.
- Preparation of procurement documentation and support the procurement process in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Assist in the development and review of designs, ensuring they are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Administration of consultancy and construction contracts including variations, progress claims and performance.
- Prepare regular project updates and technical reports for the Program Manager.
About you:
We require a self-motivated person who is safety conscious looking to work in a fast-paced team environment. To be successful in this role, you would ideally have some of the following;
- Experienced Project Engineer or Project Officer (Electrical) project delivery experience, preferably in the water industry
- Demonstrated understanding of contract administration and site supervision.
- Strong knowledge of WHS, environmental and quality management systems.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Competent in using tools (e.g. Microsoft Project) to plan and monitor the delivery of projects against time, quality and budget
- Able to manage competing priorities, delivering multiple projects at various stages of delivery
- Good written and verbal communication skills and an ability to manage multiple stakeholders
- Understanding of how you work in a safe and effective manner
