Independent Aboriginal Delegate
Lower Murray Water is seeking interested applicants for an exciting year-long opportunity to join the LMW Board as an Independent Aboriginal Delegate to develop skills and experience and take the next step into full directorship in the water or other sectors.
Who is LMW and what do we do?
Lower Murray Water (LMW) is a water corporation providing services to around 80,000 urban and rural customers along the Murray River. Our service region lies within the traditional lands of First Nations Peoples, starting from Barapa Barapa (Koondrook), travelling downstream along the Murray River through Latji Latji (Mildura) and flowing to Ngintait at the South Australian border. A unique organisation, LMW operates both urban and rural water businesses which support domestic and commercial customers from households through large-scale irrigation operations. As a leader within the region, LMW has established itself as a major contributor to enhancing regional prosperity, directly impacting social, environmental, and economic benefits.
About the role:
- Reporting directly to the LMW Board Chair, this is a capacity building role offering the opportunity to gain experience as a Board Director in the Water Sector.
- This a 12-month contract role, with the option to extend.
- Opportunity to join Board sub-committees to learn more about the Boards insight.
- Delegate is expected to attend Board meetings in-person
What experience or skills do you need?
- Previous experience on Boards is not required; however, you will have the interest in building your skills in this area.
- Connection to community, a willingness to learn and the ability to contribute to an effective board culture is essential.
- An interest in water and environment, climate change, stakeholder engagement, finance, governance or business operations, and/or strategy.
- Be a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent living in Victoria.
