time Completed

Lower Murray Water will be cleaning some of the water mains in Swan Hill on Tuesday 14 May, from 8.30am to 5pm.

We envisage the water will be shut off for approximately 7-8 hours during the cleaning operations in your street. The personnel cleaning the water mains do not necessarily have to be in your street or at your property to clean the mains. So, if you do not see our personnel, it does not mean that they are not carrying out any works.

The maintenance work will involve a technique called air scouring that removes the natural build-up of sediment that occurs in water mains. Air scouring involves sending a mixture of compressed air and water into the mains.

You may see our contractors using fire hydrants to flush water from the system. This will be done in a way to ensure no adverse impact on the environment. improves the efficiency and reliability of our service and ensures we deliver safe drinking water to meet the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

Some customers may notice a temporary chlorine taste or odour once water has been restored, at all times the water will be safe to drink.

Please contact us immediately on the following number if the proposed shut down will have any adverse effects on the running of your business. Contact Zeke Stapleton 0439 682 065 or Justin Ellis on 0404 595 623.

If you are in a situation that requires a continuous supply of water, please contact Zeke Stapleton 0439 682 065 or Justin Ellis on 0404 595 623.

Prior to the interruption, you should store sufficient water for your day’s needs. For convenience, water can be stored in the bath or, in containers for drinking water.

If for any reason you find yourself in urgent need of water, please call Contact Zeke Stapleton 0439 682 065 or Justin Ellis on 0404 595 623.

To prevent any risk to your hot water system and any other water using appliances, LMW will be turning off your stop tap near the meter to minimize any air or sediment entering your lines.

DO NOT operate any taps or water using appliances between the hours stated on this notice. If a tap is inadvertently opened, DO NOT leave open or operational.

Run the rear garden tap until the water is clear. Then run a small quantity of water from all taps on your property until there is a continuous clear flow from each one. Do not use a washing machine or water-using appliance until the water is running clear and free from air.

Discolouration and sediment in the water main can occur due to the air scouring and loss of pressure in the main. If the water does not clear up please contact Zeke Stapleton 0439 682 065 or Justin Ellis on 0404 595 623.

Failing to wait for clear water may result in stained and dirty washing, or damaged appliances and plumbing fixtures.
