About the role

The Team Leader Strategic and Asset Planning leads strategic infrastructure planning and asset management at LMW. You will drive the implementation of the Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF) ensuring robust asset management policies, plans, and frameworks are developed, reviewed, and continuously improved.

In this role, you will provide leadership across maintenance, inspection, renewal, and decommissioning programs for Water, Sewerage, Irrigation, and Drainage infrastructure, ensuring high-quality, data driven decision making and compliance. You will also lead the development of long-term infrastructure strategies, master plans, and 10-year capital works programs that support future pricing and investment decisions.

Working closely with operational and project delivery teams, you will foster safe, efficient, and customer focused infrastructure outcomes while building organisational capability in asset management. You will lead and develop a small technical team and provide strategic advice to the Manager Infrastructure Planning and Delivery on asset selection, capital prioritisation, and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic asset planning for Water, Sewerage, Irrigation and Drainage services.
  • Lead the development of master plans and infrastructure strategies.
  • Developing and manage the 10-year and 20-year rolling capital works plan, including project identification, assessment, and prioritisation.
  • Implement and continuously improve the Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF) to deliver measurable business benefits, drive asset management maturity, and embed risk based decision making across LMW.
  • Develop, review, and optimise preventive maintenance, inspection, condition monitoring, and asset renewal/replacement programs.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering advice across Infrastructure Services.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of technical staff.

About you

We require self-motivated and experienced people leader who has an eye for detail , focus on continual improvement and is safety conscious and looking to work in a fast-paced team environment. To be successful in this role, you would ideally have some of the following;

  • Engineer with experience in strategic planning or asset management to drive the development and implementation of business cases and strategies for the future capital expenditure and pricing paths at LMW.
  • An analytical thinker with experience in delivering innovative technical solutions and an eye for detail.
  • Good communication skills and an ability to manage multiple stakeholders. 
  • Experienced people leader who can mentor and develop technical staff.
  • Understanding of how you work in a safe and effective manner.
