Mildura claims best tasting tap water in Victoria
We were thrilled with the announcement the Mildura Water Treatment Plant had been awarded the 2020 IXOM Best Tasting Tap Water in Victoria, by the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia on Wednesday 14 October.
Samples from water corporations across the state were judged on odour, appearance and taste and the Mildura Water Treatment Plant came out on top against finalists Gippsland Water’s Traralgon Water Treatment Plant and Westernport Water’s Ian Bartlett Water Purification Plant.
Lower Murray Water (LMW) Team Leader Operations Kendall Niblett said it was a significant achievement by the operating teams who work tirelessly to supply safe drinking water to communities in the LMW region.
“With our region situated on the Murray River, we face many ongoing water quality issues which our operators work very hard to address year in, year out to ensure we provide the best possible supply to our customers,” he said.
The Mildura Water Treatment Plant will hold the title of Best Tasting Tap Water in Victoria for the next 12 months.
State recognition for our staff
It was a big day for LMW in the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia awards, with our very own James Sharp placing among the top four finalists in the Operator of the Year category.
The Operator of the Year award is presented to water or wastewater treatment operators to recognise excellent performance.
James began with LMW 11 years ago as a relief operator working across all the water and wastewater treatment plants before taking on the position of Koorlong Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
James’ hard work, initiative and attention to detail led to his nomination and to be recognised among the top four operators in Victoria is a fantastic achievement.
