Lower Murray Water (LMW) is a water corporation providing water services to urban and rural customers along the Murray River, from Koondrook to the South Australian border.  With just over 200 staff located in and around Mildura, Swan Hill, Kerang and Robinvale, we are responsible for servicing around 80,000 customers.

We are seeking a self-motivated and team-oriented Treatment Plant Operator who has a practical mindset, to operate our treatment plants and identify opportunities for process improvement.   

About the role:

As the Treatment Plant Operator, you will provide essential water and wastewater treatment to the community. Your primary tasks include carrying out plant checks and performing tests and process improvements, while forming part of an on-call roster.

Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to a safety-first team culture
  • Perform operational treatment plant checks and laboratory sampling and testing to manage and optimise the treatment processes, including monitoring of SCADA alarms and trends
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve treatment plant operations through process improvements, maintenance or required new assets
  • Always represent LMW professionally
  • Willingness to form part of an after-hours on-call team roster

About you:

You are a self-motivated, practical person who can work part of team environment to deliver essential treatment operations.

Prior water industry experience isn’t essential, but it will be a required to conduct formal Certificate III training and relatable practical skills are desirable.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Practical skill set and/or critical mindset to improve treatment processes
  • Willingness to learn through on-the-job training and formal Certificate III training
  • Basic computer software skills (MS Office)
  • Ability to work as part of a team and form part of an afterhours ‘on-call roster’
  • Understanding of how you work in a safe and effective manner
  • Current drivers’ licence
  • Must have the right to work in Australia
