Planning Engineer – Capital Works

About the role:
Working within Lower Murray Water’s Infrastructure Services Department, you’ll help plan and prioritise future infrastructure projects across water, wastewater, irrigation and drainage services.
This role combines strategic thinking, collaboration and problem solving to help ensure our infrastructure continues to meet the needs of our customers and communities well into the future. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to develop long-term plans, business cases and investment strategies that support sustainable service delivery.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Support strategic planning and capital works prioritisation activities.
- Contribute to the development of long-term infrastructure and master plans.
- Assist with the preparation and management of 15-year and 20-year Capital Works Plans.
- Develop business cases and project justification documentation.
- Review and improve infrastructure standards and specifications.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify practical and customer-focused solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and future planning activities.
- Contribute to infrastructure projects that deliver long-term value to customers and communities.
About you:
You enjoy solving problems, working collaboratively and thinking about how today’s decisions shape future outcomes. Experience in engineering, infrastructure planning, strategic planning or asset management will help you succeed in this role.
You’ll Bring:
- Qualifications in civil engineering or equivalent experience
- Developing experience in hydraulics, irrigation or a related field
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to support customer-focused outcomes
- Strong communication and report writing skills
- A willingness to learn and grow technical capability
