FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What types of sprinklers can I use?

For watering of lawn areas, manual or automatic sprinkler systems may be used. These include pop ups, micro sprays, soaker hose, hand-held watering, sprinklers attached to a hose etc.

Sprinkler systems that water both garden and lawn areas using one system can also be used.  Existing watering systems which use drippers for garden beds must not be modified and may continue to be used.

Can I water my Nature strip?

In addition to watering of lawns on nature strips, LMW encourages customers to look at landscaping alternatives for nature strips such as mulching, garden area/ground covers etc. Customers should check with their local council to see what programs or funding is available to assist with converting to these alternatives.

Can I still water at any time using a bucket or watering can?

Yes, you can still water your garden areas at any time on any day using a bucket or watering can.

How does this effect Rural Domestic and Stock Customers?

LMW has lifted Restrictions on these customers, each customer will now be responsible for managing their own water supply arrangements but LMW expects this group of customers to be socially responsible with their use.

Can I water my trees?

A sprinkler can still be placed under a tree canopy which is contained within a garden bed or lawn during the specified hours on the specified days.

Will I my water bill increase?

The Corporation has a three tiered water consumption pricing structure so if customers choose to use more water on their lawns they will automatically receive a higher bill for the additional water that is consumed. The additional revenue generated will contribute to the purchase of temporary water to meet the extra demand. Please refer to the Water Charges Table below for more information.

Water Saving Measures

LMW will continue to offer water saving programs to help people become more water efficient in the home with showerhead exchanges and other such programs. These programs will help offset some of the additional water used in the relaxed restrictions.  Visit our Competitions/Exchanges page for more information.

Can I fill my pool in the specified times?

No, the program is only targeted to lawn areas. No other provisions under Stage 3 Water Restrictions have been amended.

Can I establish a new lawn or plant new turf?
