Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Corporation - Board of Directors

 

Leonie Burrows is Principal of Leonie Burrows and Associates Management Consulting Services and has a background in local government management.  Leonie is Chair of Lower Murray Water.  Her previous roles have included Chief Executive Officer, Mildura Rural City Council, Chief Executive Officer, Sunraysia Institute of TAFE, Chief Executive Officer of Australian Citrus Growers and Chief Executive Officer of Australian Table Grape Growers.  Leonie has a Bachelor of Arts (Information Science) Bachelor of Business degree and Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a Fellow of Local Government Professionals and member of the Australian Institute of Municipal Management and Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

 

Kay Martin is Deputy Chair of Lower Murray Water and Chair of the Governance Committee. She is a lawyer in the legal firm Martin, Irwin and Richards and an irrigator in the Merbein Pumped Irrigation District.  Kay has both a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Economics degree and has worked in the legal profession since 1977.  She has for many years been a member of the Legal Aid Child Representative Panel and is the current President of the Chaffey Aged Care Inc

 

 

 

 

Geoff Michell is a former Managing Director of Coliban Water. Geoff is Chair of Lower Murray Water's Audit Committee. He is also a Director of the Board of Bendigo Health, Wimmera Catchment Management Authority, Bendigo Community Telco and is the Chairman of the Bendigo Tourism Board. Mr Michell has a Diploma of Civil Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration.

 

 

 

Dugald Graham is the former Chief Executive Officer of the Rural Finance Corporation of Victoria (2002 – 2010) following a 40 year career with the organisation.  He is chair of the Central Victorian Agribusiness Forum (2006 – current).  Mr Graham has a Diploma of Agricultural Science, Bachelor of Economics, Associate Diploma Valuations, completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program and is a Fellow of Certified Practicing Accountants and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.   Mr Graham lives in Strathfieldsaye, just out of Bendigo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ron Leamon, Managing Director, has over 20 years experience in the water industry and has served as CEO and now Managing Director of Lower Murray Water (LMW).

Ron is a Fellow of the Institute of Water Administration and has served as President of the Executive Council of the Institute of Water Administration.  He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Water & Wastewater Association and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management

 

 

 

 

 

 

May Ward is a Director of Bulga Wine Estates, in the Woorinen irrigation district of Swan Hill.  May holds a Diploma of Business (International Marketing) and Corporate Governance Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  A former Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councilor of Swan Hill Rural City Council, she maintains a strong community interest. May has considerable experience in the health industry as a Nurse and Midwife and is a former Director on the Swan Hill Hospital Board. May is also a member of the Corporation’s Governance Committee and Chair of Lower Murray Water of Southern Urban Customer Consultative Committee.

 

 

 

Peter Jones has a diploma of Horticultural Science from Burnley Horticultural College and has been an irrigator for over 30 years.  He is past Chairman of the Australian Dried Fruits Association and is a member of the Dried Grape Industry Advisory Council and a member of two trusts that fund marketing and other projects for the benefit of the dried fruits industry. Peter is also Chairman of the Mildura Christian College Board and board member of MADEC Aust.

 

 

 

 

 

Malcolm Bennett is a self employed dried fruit farmer (1989 – current) Chair of the Mallee Catchment Management Authority’s Mallee Irrigation and Environmental Community Advisory Committee (2005 - current) and member of the Biodiversity Technical Advisory Committee (2005 – current).  He is a member of the Merbein Branch Dried Fruits Australia (2004 – current) and vice chair of Sunraysia Irrigators Council (2004 – current).  Mr Bennett has an Associate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.   Mr Bennett lives in Merbein.
