Mallee Environmental Schools Festival 2008
On Wednesday 16th April 2008 over 550 grade 3 and 4 schools children converged on the Mildura Homestead to participate in the Mallee Environmental Schools Festival. The aim of the day was to educate, inform and engage the school children in environmental issues.
LMW’s focus was on wastewater and the do’s and don’t’s when using the toilet, sink and washing machine. Issues of interest were the treatment process for our wastewater and how we can keep our sewers in better condition by not putting the wrong things down them.

Feedback for the day was excellent with both teachers and students enjoying the day. The event is run bi-annually with a similar event to be held in Swan Hill and Kerang in coming months.

Other participating businesses including Mallee CMA, Mildura Regional Waste Management, Mallee Regional Landcare Network, Waterwatch, Powercor, Mildura Rural City Council, Dept Sustainability and Envronment, and Murray Darling Freshwater Research Centre.
