Securing Victoria's water supplies
waterMAP Program
The Victorian Government's waterMAP program seeks to improve the water efficiency of major water using commercial, industrial and institutional customers.
What is a waterMAP?
A waterMAP is a "Water Management Action Plan". It is a plan to use water more efficiently by identifying water saving actions that can be implemented at a specific site.
Who can participate in the waterMAP program?
The following Lower Murray Water customers can participate:
- Existing non-residential customers who:
- currently use 5 million litres or more potable water per annum
- are likely to use 5 million litres or more potable water per annum in the future
- New non-residential customers LMW expects are likely to use 5 million litres or more potable water per annum
Is a waterMAP mandatory?
No, however all Victorian urban non-residential customers are encouraged to develop a water management action plan (waterMAP) with their local water corporation, to demonstrate how they will use water more efficiently in the future.
How will preparing a waterMAP assist your organisation?
A waterMAP will benefit your organisation by assisting to:
- Assess your current water usage
- identify inefficiencies and areas for potential water savings
- create an action plan to implement water conservation methods
- create a framework to annually review and report on water conservation actions
- saving water will save money!
- Grants are currently available to participants of the program. (subject to terms & conditions being met)
